The early Shankland researcher Albert Bruce Shankland referred to the brothers, John and David, (4th generation) who moved to Kentucky from Delaware shortly after the revolution as Pioneer John and Pioneer David (or by others as the Kentucky Shanklands) to differentiate them from the multitude of Shanklands with the same name.
