St. Francis Catholic Church was the setting June 6 for the wedding of April Robertson and
Gregory Shankland of Quincy.
She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Donald E. Hayes of Perry, Mo, and Robert L. Kroeger of
Quincy. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Richard B. Shankland of Quincy.
The Rev. Roger McKeague conducted the 1 p.m. nuptial Mass. Musicians were Laura
Kammerer, organist; and Bonnie Hemming, vocalist.
Mr. Hayes gave his stepdaughter in marriage. Cheryl Lechner of Fulton, Mo., was matron of
honor. Bridesmaids were: Robin Berry of Quincy, sister of the bride; Linda Shankland of St.
Louis, sister of the bridegroom; and Kathy Rayhel of Merritt Island, Fla., sister of the
bridegroom. Shannon Robertson of Quincy, daughter of the bride, was junior bridesmaid.
Kenneth Busse of Kansas City, Mo., was best man. Groomsmen were Dean Ripper, Gary Keller
and Mike Maddox, all of Quincy. Curtis Maas of Quincy, cousin of the bridegroom, was junior
groomsman. Ushers were Gary Grawe and Tim Day, both of Quincy.
Brittney Berry, niece of the bride, was flower girl. Zachary Maas, cousin of the bridegroom, was
ring bearer. Both are of Quincy.
A reception and dance was held in the Quincy College Cafeteria from 8 p.m. to midnight. The
bridegroom's parents hosted the rehearsal dinner June 5 in Stipp's Restaurant.
After a wedding trip to Fort Lauderdale and the Bahamas, the couple is at home at 2045 Cherry.
Mrs. Shankland is a 1981 graduate of Hannibal Senior High School and a 1990 graduate of
Quincy College with a bachelor's degree in psychology and two minors in sociology and theology.
Mr. Shankland is a 1982 graduate of Quincy Notre Dame High School. He received a certificate
in autobody in 1984 from Quincy Technical Schools. He is employed by Donaldson's
Distribution Center and the Adams County Health Department..
